ACT joined the Fruit Tree Plantation Drive globally in 2021, a moment it called historic, with an impact that will be felt by generations to come. Volunteers took to it because the idea is simple: plant trees that bear fruit, and they become a source of food and shelter across species, lasting far beyond the day of planting.

The drive is deliberately unglamorous about aftercare. ACT USA, which has planted over 2,000 fruit and nut trees since 2021, plants mostly 5–6 ft trees and partners with state, municipal and local governments and nonprofits, “ensuring good aftercare so that the fruits will benefit the general population for years to come”.

Most planting happens where children will see it: 57 trees in a schoolyard and a kindergarten in North Macedonia; 498 seedlings at 22 elementary schools in Serbia in the first year, planted with city mayors, school staff, students and volunteers.
