Fruit trees planted where children will eat from them — in schoolyards, kindergartens and public spaces.
In its first year, ACT Serbia planted 498 fruit tree seedlings at 22 elementary schools and other locations, mainly in Zrenjanin and Niš, working with partners, city mayors, school staff, students and volunteers. The team planted a further 29 trees in 2025.
ACT North Macedonia planted 57 fruit trees in a schoolyard and a kindergarten in 2025.
Choosing schoolyards is the point: a fruit tree planted where children already are becomes a source of food and shelter across species, and lasts for generations.
