The programmes inside it
- Care home companionship in the UKRegular visits to keep elderly care home residents company.
- Household support across SerbiaFood, medicine and household essentials to more than 80 households — elderly, ill, single parents and children.
- ACT Bears and dignity packs in South AfricaHampers that ease a household’s week, and a bear for a child who needs reassurance more than words.
Not everything ACT does can be weighed. In the UK, volunteers make regular companionship visits to elderly residents at a local care home, explicitly to reduce loneliness. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, teams visit the Gerontology Center in Sarajevo — which serves 348 people and houses a homeless shelter for about twenty — and the Rada Vranješević Home in Banja Luka. In Serbia, support reaches more than 80 households and over 300 individuals: the elderly, the ill, single parents and children.
Alongside the visits are the things that make a hard week survivable: hygiene packages, clothing packs, gift and dignity hampers. In South Africa, ACT Bears are given to children experiencing trauma, illness or emotional hardship — often clutched tightly by a child who needs reassurance more than words.
At Christmas 2025 at the Mohanji Centre of Benevolence, a celebration planned for 300 children met more than 600 arrivals. Four unexpected boxes of toys arrived at the right moment. Over 750 meals were served, 600 toys distributed, and not a single child was turned away.
