Alongside the meals, ACT South Africa assembles gift hampers and dignity packs — hygiene and household items that take the pressure off a family for a week — and gives ACT Bears to children experiencing trauma, illness or hardship.
Last year that meant hundreds of hampers, 1,047 clothing packages and 222 hygiene packages. At Christmas, a party planned for 300 children met more than 600 arrivals, and nobody was turned away.
