Care home companionship in the UK
Regular visits to keep elderly care home residents company.
ACT UK’s volunteer work names loneliness alongside homelessness, food insecurity and animal welfare as one of the four things it exists to address.
Volunteers make regular companionship visits to elderly residents in a local care home. In earlier years the same teams helped care home staff run bhajans, light exercises and games.
It produces no tonnage and appears in no figure. It is here because a programme that cannot be weighed is still a programme, and because company is what the people receiving it asked for.
