Wells sunk where families had been carrying water — for drinking, cooking and sanitation.
Access to clean water remains out of reach for many households in rural Sri Lanka. In the flood-prone villages of Vaharai, ACT built three water wells and two toilets — the wells giving reliable clean water, the toilets giving the dignity and safety that sanitation is really about.
Two further wells were completed in Batticaloa in 2025, for families whose day had been shaped by the work of fetching water. An earlier well under the same programme serves a community of approximately 75 people.
