ACT4Animals was launched in early September 2022. It was initiated by Melanie Roth, a veterinarian from Canada volunteering with ACT4Ukraine, who had been moved by the plight of stray animals in Romania and Ukraine and wanted to offer her professional skills.
The platform supports animal shelters and sanctuaries — organisations that often rely solely on donations from people and organisations sharing the same vision and love for animals.
In practice it means sacks of feed and medical supplies delivered to shelters, food left for wildlife and street animals, and hands-on work at sanctuaries: a horse sanctuary in Lapovo, a farm sanctuary in Uxbridge, the Fauna Foundation in Quebec, All in One in South Africa, Santisook Dog & Cat Rescue in Thailand.
