ACT’s South African feeding work — regular meals in three cities and at the Mohanji Centre of Benevolence, and the hampers and bears that go with them.
Regular nutritious meals for children, elders and vulnerable families in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, run with the Mohanji Centre of Benevolence at Nonoti and the areas around it. Over 400 people access food support regularly; fresh vegetables, bread and spices go out to families alongside the cooked meals.
The programme is named for one Christmas at MCB South Africa. The day was planned for 300 children. Children kept arriving — quietly at first, then in growing numbers — and by midday more than 600 had gathered. Nobody was turned away.
Beyond the meals, the team assembles gift hampers and dignity packs carrying hygiene and household items, and gives ACT Bears to children going through trauma, illness or emotional hardship. Feeding here is not measured only in quantities served, but in lives steadied with hope.
