ACT4SriLanka community kitchen

The emergency appeal ACT raised during Sri Lanka’s economic crisis, and the kitchen it paid for.

Food & NutritionPart of ACT4Hunger1 location

When Sri Lanka’s economic crisis took hold, ACT Sri Lanka launched an emergency appeal — ACT4SriLanka — with ACT UK and Mohanji International. The appeal funded a service hub with an on-site community kitchen, in a building leased in the Bandarawela district.

The kitchen opened in August 2022 to cook vegan meals for people who could not afford one proper meal a day. It is what an appeal is supposed to leave behind: not a distribution, but a kitchen that was still there afterwards.
