Ready for the next flood
The rations that go on the boat have to be bought before the water rises.

When Batticaloa flooded, ACT volunteers made a three-hour boat journey to deliver 1,500 kilograms of dry rations to 150 families. When Bosnia and Herzegovina flooded, volunteers arrived with food, hygiene supplies and cleaning tools, and stayed to help clean the houses.
Both times the supplies existed because money was already there. A gift to this fund is not spent today; it is what makes the response possible on the day it is needed.
